Experience

Karen joined Poppies in 2001, training and developing her knowledge; then latterly experiencing infant school to widen her knowledge and skills. She specialised in Letters and Sounds Literacy Programmes and Special Educational Needs before rejoining our senior management team. She is Group Deputy, supervisor, Next Steps Literacy Co-ordinator, PANCO and Planning Co-ordinator. “I have great practical experience in early years, infant school, out of school clubs and SEN intervention. I thoroughly enjoy planning and my vast experience supports my supervisory role. I am also mother of two children which enables me to empathise with families, understanding their needs and supporting them throughout their time with us.”

Curriculum interests/ skills

“I am very passionate about literacy; to provide children with the confidence and tools to communicate therefore enriching their learning opportunities. I am also very interested in supporting those with Special educational needs, ensuring the curriculum can be accessed and tailored for all individuals. I support families who need a little extra help, liaising with outside agencies to ensure needs are met.

I am committed to providing an enriching, motivating and meaningful learning platform to build self-confidence and risk-taking in order to give our children the tools to be independent, effective, confident learners throughout their educational journey. I am dedicated to ensure fully we provide the foundations to build learning.”
